About Tulsi

Tulsi is more than just a restaurant to our family. It’s the realization of a dream that began long before we opened our doors in Carytown.

Our parents, first-generation immigrants, built their lives around family, hospitality, and a passion for sharing great food. More than 30 years ago, our father got his start in the restaurant industry as a dishwasher. Through long hours, relentless determination, and a genuine love for creation, he worked his way through nearly every role in the house before finally opening a restaurant of his own. His recipes are the foundation of Tulsi.

While our father mastered the food & beverage industry, our mother anchored our home with food that brought everyone to the table. She taught us that exceptional food doesn’t have to be complicated—it just has to be made with care and shared with the people you love. Cooking is undoubtedly her language of love, and it’s something all of our friends look forward to.  

When we opened Tulsi, we set out to create a space worthy of their legacy. We wanted a place where our own family and friends would want to gather—where every guest feels genuinely welcomed, and every dish reflects the rich flavors and traditions we grew up with.
